Holidays can be a challenging time of year for many people, between stress, less than ideal food choices and busy schedules and pressure to eat things we know leave us feeling sick and lethargic. So what is a smart foodie to do?
When possible offer to bring or make a healthy and delicious raw dish (raw pasta with a flavourful sauce, massaged kale salads, chili with raw crackers or "cheesy" bread sticks are all excellent options and are just a few of the many 5-star recipes you will learn in Level 1, Level 2 and the 200 Hour Raw Food Educator Program) to take to any group brunch, dinner or event. Not only does this help to take some of the pressure off of your hostess and/or host, but it will ensure that you have something that you can eat without any worry. It also provides an excellent opportunity for those you care about most to try raw food and realize for themselves how fresh, delicious and satisfying it truly is.
Instead of chocolate eggs and bunnies, why not make up a quick batch of 2 bite brownies to enjoy instead? You can even make them colorful and Easter themed by rolling the brownies into egg shapes and finishing them with a sprinkle of shredded coconut that has been colored with beet, concord grape, carrot or any vibrantly colored, sweet fresh juice of your choice. Be creative. Or even better still make a big fresh fruit salad featuring lots of colorful fresh spring fruits. Serve with a little raw coconut cream for a light but decadent dessert.
